Usage Recommendations

For Smoking - we recommend using non petroleum based starters. Residue in the smoke from these starters can contaminate the cooking box with the potential to effect the flavor of the meat. The use of a torch or paper and kindling is most effective. Use approximately 40 lbs. of charcoal briquettes, or 20 lbs. of lump charcoal in fire box to get started. Once meat is placed in smoker, you can add wood in fire box for smoking. You can continue to use wood or charcoal (your choice). Add wood or charcoal as needed to maintain temperature where you want it. Optional charcoal basket holds approximately 60 lbs. of charcoal briquettes and ensures efficient even temperatures.

For Grilling - remove bottom grate from smoker and slide in optional charcoal pan. Put in your desired amount of charcoal and slide top grate above charcoal pan.

I purchased a TS500 Loaded with lots of extras. I was told I should do a test run before I did any events. Great advise! I found that it smokes a little faster than our previous smoker. Great to know that.
Then I loaded it up for an event (Sweet Lucy’s Affair) for the Foothills Land Conservancy of NC. 65 Boston Butts and wow. They turned out great. Lots of compliments. Lots of smiles, and that includes me.
Lots of people, 250+ Lots of donations grossing $120,000.
So this TS500 not only feeds me it’s great to use for events, fundraising and just for the neighborhood. Can’t wait for the next event. Good Q, fun, fellowship and happy people.
What a great Smoker this TS500 is! Thank you for such a fine product.

Lit smoker at -31 degrees for a catering event…was terrified unit would not hold temp. As it turned out, the smoker worked flawlessly, holding temperature all day! 5 stars

I have the TS500 on my custom trailer built by meadow Creek. This smoker without a doubt is the best money can buy. I have the insulated fire box and I only have to add one stick of wood every hour to maintain my temp. The easiest smoker to maintain and clean and the craftsmanship is top notch. I would not own any other smoker.

  4. Clarence Johnson

The TS500 is the best smoker on the planet.
