Helpful BBQ Tools

February 14th, 2009

I just added a few barbeque-related resources to my website under BBQ Tools.

We are working hard to make the website informative and helpful for people who are looking for a new BBQ cooker, ways to enhance their cooking skills, or grow their catering business.

If you’re still in research mode for a new BBQ cooker, check out my handy little charts I just added today:

Please leave a comment to let me know if they are useful for you.

I also posted a really amazing BBQ catering planner that helps you price large or small catering events. If you do any catering events, you need to check this out.

Not only is your website fantastic for anyone interested in BBQ but it’s a wealth of knowledge for those looking to go into business like me. I just downloaded your catering planner spreadsheet and I must say this is a fantastic tool. Keep up the good work. Don’t be surprised if you see my name on one of your invoices soon. I desperately need a pit but so afraid to purchase from an non trusting source.

Very structured and interesting spreadsheet on the catering planner. I built one my self but not this intense. Hope you dont mind me using this one rather than the one that I created myself. I was really impressed with this one as I built one that was very generic compared to the detail of your food options when catering and determining your profit! That is the fun part to see it on paper but even funner when you see it in your bank account!

    Thanks
    Again,

    Jeff

I down saved the BBQ planner – someday…we are going to add this to the farm business!

I have just downloaded your BBQ planner but have one problem…..in South Africa we are working on the decimal system as far as weights are concerned. Obviousely we have the ZAR (South African Rand) as our currency whitch equates to the USD to the tune of +/- 1USD = R 6.98. How can I modify you spreadsheet to suit ?

  15. Lavern Says:

Sorry, Nico, I don’t think I can help. You should contact the original author of the planner. Try the email address in the spreadsheet.

Nice to hear from you though!

    Thanks,

    Lavern

  16. dan Says:

This seems to need a password to modify the fields. What is it?

  17. Lavern Says:

Dan, the fields you need to modify in order to enter your amounts are not password-protected.

  18. stony Says:

i downloaded open office so that i could download you catering calculater.
it wont work. keeps opening up word pad, what do i do?

  19. Lavern Says:

I don’t know what is wrong. Maybe it doesn’t work in OpenOffice Calc. I will need to test it on another PC. In the mean time, open Calc and from File > Open, choose the xls file, and see if it opens it then.

  20. Lavern Says:

I tried the Calculator in Open Office Calc. I downloaded it and it opened right up in Calc. However, it did open in Read-Only mode, which will keep you from adjusting the numbers. If you save it on your Desktop and then right click on the file and uncheck the Read Only box and and click OK, it should fix it. Let me know if you still can’t get it. –Lavern

  21. Charlie Says:

Thanks for the Planner! A really great tool that has already been such a great help for our Mission trip fundraiser and used it to get ready for my homecoming preparations too.
    Again, Thanks!

  22. Ray Says:

Thanks for access to your BBQ planner. It will be a great help in planning family parties as well. Thanks again!
